Overview

WriteX is a local-first desktop writing app. Your documents stay in folders you choose; WriteX does not upload them to WriteX operator servers.

Data stored locally

The following stays on your device only:

  • Project files — Markdown, attachments, and other workspace files
  • Agent sessions — Session index and messages under your project directory
  • App settings — Language, theme, workspace list, etc.
  • API keys — Encrypted by the main process in local user data

WriteX does not collect, upload, or use your document content for training or analytics.

LLM providers (BYOK)

Providers you configure handle requests under their own terms. WriteX forwards requests locally; we do not host keys or sell tokens.

Auto-update

The app may download installers and manifests from GitHub, Gitee, Microsoft Store, or mirrors you configure. No document or chat content is sent for updates.

Crash reporting

The initial public beta does not upload crash data. If opt-in reporting is added later, this page will be updated.

When the Agent uses web search, requests may fetch public web content, not local files unless you attach them to context.
